Domestic violence requires immediate and effective help. In most European countries, regulations follow a common line. Most recently, the Polish parliament adopted a reform of the concept.
The amendment defines domestic violence as an act that not only affects the victim but also an other person, exposed to the crime. Whereas cyberbullying, especially when done remotely, makes the victim feel threatened, embarrassed, or angry.
Such changes imply the need to involve many social institutions and professions, minding their direct contact with the affected. For instance the domestic requires support centre managers to have the right qualifications and work experience.
Marzena Krawczyk, coordinator from a Social Assistance Center, explains:
“People experiencing violence, and disclosing this fact, are often accompanied by anxiety, fear, mainly of the consequences and further action in the support procedure, and this is often a long road”
The urgence of the topic is visible from the statistics. Especially during the COViD-19 pandemic, when the increase of the the domestic abuses was noticeably higher.
